Some women are born California girls, and others have California thrust upon them—and blossom accordingly. Crystal Harris (otherwise known as Crystal Hefner) spent her first seven years in England with her British-born parents before moving to sunny San Diego, where the warm weather and California sunshine perfectly suited the budding beach bunny. She met Hugh Hefner at a party on Halloween 2008, when she was still a psychology major at San Diego State University, and the blonde bombshell quickly rose from a Playboy “Co-ed of the week” to one of The Girls Next Door, starring in the reality television series in 2009. While a PG-13 version of the show, which centered around Hef, the Playboy Mansion, and all things Playboy, aired on the E! network, they also shot and later released a saucier version—which is where Crystal bared all her goodies for the camera in a Playmate test shoot. Fingers-crossed, the super-sexy seductress bared all three Bs in a series of sizzling poses in hopes Hef, now her fiancé, would pick her to be a Playmate of the month. It worked! Crystal was the cover bunny for Playboy’s July 2011 issue. Unfortunately, she was billed as Mrs. Crystal Hefner—and the issue was printed before she got cold feet and famously called off the nuptials with only a week to spare. But celebrities are fickle, and Crystal and Hef eventually did get married on New Year’s Eve in 2012, with the marriage lasting until the Playboy Mogul’s death in 2017.
